BBUGS and BOHOGS hosted a booth at the University of Queensland Engineering Undergraduate Society Careers Fair with society members educating engineering students on a career in mining geotechnical engineering. The BBUGS/BOHOGS booth had banners, videos running and lots of merch. Some good conversations were had with some potential young engineers considering geotechnical engineering. The councils appreciate Gurshaan, Sache and Rav for donating their time and sharing their passion to promote our field and societies on behalf of the entire membership. BBUGS Technical Meeting 9th June 2022

A big thank you to everyone who came out to the June technical meeting and networking event in Emerald. It was a great event with some very robust discussions around professional liability, engineering practices and advancement in automation capability and strata management. BBUGS launched a promotional video to encourage more students and graduates to consider a career in Geotechnical Engineering. BBUGS Technical Meeting 31st March, 2022.

BBUGS held a technical meeting event on 31st March, 2022 and Moranbah with a focus on geotechnical aspects of new and upcoming underground mines in the region. It was great to get a glance into many of the geotechnical factors that go into the planning of a new operation. Thank you to all who attended and a special thanks to those who presented.

On March 11tth 2022, BBUGS had the opportunity to attend the University of Queensland Engineering Undergraduate Society Careers Fair. The event provided a great opportunity for members of BBUGS to interact with the future engineers of the industry and to discuss what it is like to be a Geotechnical Engineering (Mining). BBUGS 2021 AGM and SUPPLIERS DAY On the 24th November, 2021, BBUGs held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) and annual Supplier’s Day in Moranbah, Queensland. Many great presentations were given by our sponsors with products and capabilities on show on the exhibition tables. For the first time in many years no one was nominated and therefore no one was awarded the BBUGS Geotechnical Practitioner of Year. We would  like to congratulate Robert Bertuzzi of PSM for being voted and receiving the Presentation of the Year on his presentation “Geotechnical Innovations in Tunneling”.
