Technical Meeting - Moranbah Workers Club BBUGS held our first technical meeting for 2023 at the Moranbah Workers Club. It was great to see so many people attend this event in person. This year Ed Steed (Anglo American),  has stepped up into the role of Chairperson with Andrew Secombe (Blackrock Mining) moving into the Past Chair role. Jason Jamieson (SCT) and Jongwong Park (Geotechnicoal) have been elected into the roles of Vice Chair and Young Members Representative respectively. On March 10tth 2023, BBUGS, together with BOHOGS, had the opportunity to attend the University of Queensland Engineering Undergraduate Society Careers Fair to encourage students to consider a career in Geotechnical Engineering. The event provided a great opportunity for members of BBUGS to interact with the future engineers of the industry and to discuss what it is like to be a Geotechnical Engineering (Mining). Suppliers Day and AGM The annual suppliers day and BBUGS AGM was held in Capella this year, in conjunction with BOHOGS. This year say a number of new and innovative products come onto the market as well as some key learning from incidents within the industry. Thanks to all who attended the BBUGS ACARP project update in Moranbah last week. With 40 people attending in person and 50 online is was a great turn out. It was good to see so many people turn up in person, which resulted in some robust technical discussions and networking opportunities. BBUGS held a technical meeting event on 31st March, 2022 and Moranbah with a focus on geotechnical aspects of new and upcoming underground mines in the region. It was great to get a glance into many of the geotechnical factors that go into the planning of a new operation. Thank you to all who attended and a special thanks to those who presented.

BBUGS 2021 AGM and SUPPLIERS DAY On the 24th November, 2021, BBUGs held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) and annual Supplier’s Day in Moranbah, Queensland. Many great presentations were given by our sponsors with products and capabilities on show on the exhibition tables. For the first time in many years no one was nominated and therefore no one was awarded the BBUGS Geotechnical Practitioner of Year.
