BBUGS is the Bowen Basin Underground Geotechnical Society based in the Bowen Basin in Queensland, Australia. BBUGS is a society where geotechnical engineers can share experience in a friendly environment.
The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

On May 26 BBUGS hosted a mine tour at the Kestrel mine and a meeting at the Capella Cultural Centre. Kestrel put on a great tour for nine members of the society and 38 attended the meeting. flyer here.
Presentations on Kestrel South, The Goliath Bolt trial at Grasstree and a 1 hour workshop on "Advanced Features and a Better Understanding of the GSS Software Packages" by Mark Colwell were excellent and well received
